The anal gland is a saccular gland on either side of your dog’s anus. This trap contains a lot of brown-yellow secretions. Under normal circumstances, these secretions are excreted by dogs when they poop. However, if the anal gland becomes inflamed, it can become blocked with something. As a result, the dog is unable to expel secretions during defecation, causing secretions to accumulate in the anal gland. After the secretion accumulates, the dog will produce pain, so the dog will use the tongue to lick around the anus, which can easily cause the dog to get anal adenitis.

When the dog has anal adenitis, we can not treat the dog, we need to send the dog to the pet hospital for treatment. However, there are tests that can be done for dogs to avoid adenitis. First of all, the detection of anal adenitis needs two people, one person to operate, and one person to help hold the dog down, not to let the dog move. First we need to fix the dog, and then we need to turn the dog’s tail up so that the anus is sticking out. This will prevent the dog’s fur from getting dirty during the procedure, and will allow for better compression of the anal glands.

Then we put the money over the dog’s anus, put our thumb and index finger on each side of the dog’s anus, and slowly squeeze from the inside out. During squeezing, if there is little secretion and no smell, then the dog’s anal glands are not inflamed. If your dog’s secretions come out like toothpaste, it means your dog’s anal glands are blocked. This is the time to take the dog to the hospital.
