The age of the dog is mainly determined by the growth of the dog’s teeth, the peak of the teeth and the degree of wear of the teeth, shape, color, etc. In order to facilitate the mastery of the dog, the dog’s teeth test is introduced as follows:
Adult dogs have a total of 42 teeth and puppies have a total of 28 teeth.
20 days – Teething starts around the same time
4-6 weeks of age – Milk incisors are complete. Nearly two months of age, all milk teeth are complete, white, thin and pointed.
2-4 months of age – Replacement of first milk incisors
5-6 months of age – Replacement of second and third milk incisors and milk canine teeth
After 8 months of age – all permanent teeth replaced
1 year old – permanent teeth are complete, white and shiny, with cusps on the upper incisors
1.5 years – the large cusp of the second mandibular incisor is worn down until the small cusp is flush, a phenomenon known as cusp erosion
2.5 years – mandibular second incisor cusp worn out
3.5 years – maxillary first incisor cusp worn out
4.5 years – maxillary second incisor cusp worn out
5 years – mandibular third incisor cusp slightly worn, mandibular first and second incisors with spaced wear surfaces
6 years – mandibular third cusp obliterated, canines bluntly rounded
7 years – first mandibular incisor worn to the root, wear surface longitudinally elliptical
8 years – first mandibular incisor wear is slanted toward the front
10 years – Longitudinal oval shape of the wear surface of the mandibular second and maxillary first incisors
10-16 years old – incisors falling out of canines
