1. Use the bath tub to give your cat a bath and a soak. Put a tub full of water and do not let the water run off. Wash the fur carefully, deep to the skin, especially the ears, tail and abdomen where fleas are concentrated.

2. Let your cat sit in the bath so that you can drown the fleas around the tail while you groom the rest of the coat.

3. Rinse the coat thoroughly for 5 minutes, followed by spraying with a handheld sprayer or pouring water over the body with a cup. (Use a cotton ball to plug the ears while rinsing to avoid water ingress, or hold the ears and fold them over.)

4. Dry as usual.

5. Finally, using a lice removal comb or an appropriately sized comb, slowly comb from the tail to the head. Make sure to comb deep into the skin with each stroke.

6. If there are still fleas, flea excrement and flea eggs present, then find them. Dot them with a small amount of alcohol and rinse them off after they are all settled. Since they have a hard shell, you may not be able to squeeze them with your fingers. (You don’t really want to squeeze them to death with your hands, do you? )

7. If no trace of fleas is found after a thorough cleaning, that’s great! Treat with a tick removal comb every day and take a bath once a week to keep fleas away.
