The tortoise is well known. But there should be many little friends who don’t know how turtles hatch. Today, let’s learn how tortoise eggs hatch.
First of all, you should make some preparations and disinfect the things that need to be used to hatch turtle eggs, such as sand, cleaning and sun disinfection. When the mother turtle lays eggs, don’t disturb it and create a quiet environment for it. Most mothers lay their eggs in the evening, at night or early morning, but some mothers lay their eggs at noon. This is not particularly fixed. Just make sure not to disturb the mother turtle during spawning.
When the mother turtle lays a turtle egg, you should observe whether the egg has been fertilized. If white spots appear on the turtle egg within 24-72 hours after laying, the egg is fertilized. If there are no white spots, it is not fertilized. It should be noted that the newly laid turtle egg should not be moved until 24 hours later, because the embryos in the newly laid turtle egg are very fragile. In order to successfully reproduce the baby turtle, do not move the newly laid turtle egg~
Then hatching turtle eggs
There are two main ways to hatch tortoise eggs: natural hatching and artificial hatching.
Natural hatching
There are two methods of natural hatching: the first is to dig a sand pit artificially in the sunny place of the turtle pool, fill it with yellow sand, put the turtle eggs into it, and put them into a depth of about 1 cm to ensure light and a certain humidity in the sand pit. The baby turtles can be hatched after 50-60 days. The second method is to pile a lot of small sand piles in the turtle pond, so that the mother turtle will climb ashore at night, and the mother turtle will dig a pit to lay eggs by herself. The time required for the turtle eggs to hatch the baby turtle under natural conditions is about 50-70 days.
Artificial incubation
Prepare a wooden box, drill holes and holes under the box, lay about 20cm thick sand, discharge the tortoise eggs on the sand, then lay a layer of fine sand about 2cm thick on the tortoise eggs, and then cover the fine sand with a wet towel. The indoor temperature is maintained at 22-25 degrees Celsius. If the temperature is higher, the incubation time will be shorter, and if the temperature is lower, the incubation time will be longer. When the weather is fine and the climate is dry, it is necessary to sprinkle water on the fine sand to ensure sufficient humidity. The box needs to be covered with a layer of cloth, which needs to be wet. The purpose of this is to prevent young turtles from escaping and being killed. In this way, the hatching can be completed in 50-60 days, and the hatching rate is high, reaching more than 90%.
See here, you have increased your knowledge. You don’t have to worry about how to hatch tortoise eggs in the future.
