Grooming your Cormon includes combing, brushing and trimming. This not only brushes down the shedding hair, but also stimulates blood flow to the dog’s skin and increases sebaceous gland production, leaving the coat clean and shiny.
The method of hair care for Cocker Spaniels is to brush from head to tail, top to bottom, from neck to shoulder, then brush the limbs and tail according to the order of hair arrangement and growth. After brushing one side and then the other, brush the surface dirt with the brush first along the hair direction, and then use the root brush to rub back and forth to brush the hair layer to expel the dirt.
Be careful to brush the Cocker Spaniel lightly, not too hard, so that the dog feels comfortable without pain after brushing. When brushing, brush after brush, all over the body, do not miss. Feeding the dog is not home for brushing, brushing down the messy hair, to remove the clean in time, can be buried or burned, in order to avoid scattered with the wind and affect the health. Grooming work should be kept clean and should be sterilized regularly. Dogs may not listen to the command at the beginning of brushing, should be brushed while soothing, brushing a few times, they will be accustomed to.
A method of clipping a Cormon’s coat:
- 1, cut the hair, do not cut the dog’s skin, the dog’s skin elasticity is not big and loose, when pulling up the coat trimming, accidentally will cut the skin, the dog will be based on its experience of injury, the future will be to avoid or aversion to trimming the coat. Therefore, when trimming the coat, especially when cutting the coat short, make sure the scissors are parallel to the skin, and trim against the direction of the hair or cut from the bottom up, so it will not be easy to cut its skin.
- 2, pay attention to trim the hair between the toes of long-haired dogs: not only trimming hair, long-haired dogs at the bottom of their feet, between the toes also have longer, more hair, easy to dirty feet during walks, and sometimes easy to slip, so between the toes of the hair also belongs to the scope of the pruning.
- 3, pay attention to trimming the long hair around the external auditory canal and anus: some dogs have more long hair in the external auditory canal, easy to attract parasites or otitis externa, can be regularly trimmed or plucked (sub-pulling, a plucking easy to cause infection). Long-haired dogs also have a lot of long hair around the anus, easy to cause pollution in the stool, so every 2-3 months should be trimmed once, can reduce pollution.
