Most turtles get rotten skin because the water quality of raising turtles is not up to standard. Turtles live in substandard water for a long time, and their skin is easy to turn white, turn gray and yellow, and then fester, accompanied by signs of swelling. The more serious may be skin cracking, and the turtle’s subcutaneous tissue can be seen. If this situation is not treated in time, the turtle is likely to be life-threatening.

If the turtle keeper finds it in time, the rotten skin of the turtle can be recovered. The general treatment methods are as follows:

1、 Liquid medicine

You can add iodine, hydrogen peroxide, purple potion and povidone iodine into qualified water to dilute. Soak the tortoise in this potion for half an hour. Be careful not to enter the tortoise’s eyes. Soak the tortoise and raise it dry. Generally, the non serious rotten skin can be cured after three or four days of operation. Some slight rotten skin does not need to be soaked. It only needs to wipe the rotten skin with liquid medicine and dry for half an hour. Similarly, it can be cured in three or four days.

2、 Ointment

Some anti-inflammatory topical ointments can be used to wipe the rotten skin of turtles, such as aureomycin eye ointment, Wuji ointment, daknin, baiduobang and other ointments. In fact, dakenin and baiduobang are only needed when the rotten skin is serious. Generally, it can be cured with aureomycin eye ointment or erythromycin eye ointment. During the period of applying ointment, it is recommended to dry raise as much as possible, but remember that the dry raise time cannot be too long, and pay attention not to dehydrate the tortoise.

3、 Self healing

Many times, the rotten skin of turtles does not need drugs. When the tortoise is found to have rotten skin, change the water frequently and change the qualified water quality. At the same time, pay attention to basking the tortoise more in the sun, and the rotten skin will recover after a period of time.
