Turtles, as we all know them. But there should be many partners do not know how the turtle is hatched from. Today we will learn how turtle eggs hatch.
First of all, you need to make some preparations by disinfecting the things you need to use to hatch the turtle eggs, such as sand and soil, cleaning them and exposing them to disinfection. Do not disturb the mother turtle when she is laying eggs and create a quiet environment for her. Most mothers lay eggs in the evening, at night or in the early morning, but some lay eggs at noon. This is not particularly fixed, so just make sure you don’t disturb her during egg laying.
When a mother turtle lays an egg, you have to observe if the egg is fertilized. If there are white spots on the egg within 24-72 hours after the egg is laid, the egg is fertilized, and if there are no white spots, the egg is not fertilized. It is important to note that you should not move a freshly laid turtle egg until 24 hours later, because the embryo inside the freshly laid egg is very fragile, so don’t move the freshly laid egg in order to successfully breed the baby turtle.
Then it’s time to hatch the turtle eggs
There are two main ways to hatch turtle eggs, one is natural hatching and the other is artificial hatching.
Natural Incubation
There are two methods of natural hatching: the first is to artificially dig a sand pit in the sunny part of the turtle pond, then fill it with yellow sand and put the turtle eggs into it, about 1 cm deep, to ensure that there is light and the sand pit is kept at a certain humidity level, and the baby turtles will hatch after 50 – 60 days. The second method is to pile a lot of small piles of sand in the turtle pond, so that at night the mother turtle will climb ashore and dig her own pit to lay eggs.
Artificial incubation
Prepare a wooden box,, the box under the drilling, small holes, lay about 20 cm thick sand, the turtle eggs will be discharged on top of the sand, and then on top of the turtle eggs lay a layer of fine sand about 2 cm thick, and then covered with a wet towel on top of the fine sand can be. Keep the room temperature at 22 – 25 degrees Celsius. If the temperature is higher, the incubation time will be shorter, and if the temperature is lower, the time required will be longer. When the sky is clear and the climate is dry, you need to sprinkle water on top of the fine sand to ensure sufficient humidity. The purpose of doing this is to prevent the young turtles from escaping and to prevent them from being harmed. If this is done, the hatching will be complete in 50-60 days and the rate of emergence will be high, over 90 percent.
See here we have increased knowledge, you no longer have to worry about how to hatch turtle eggs.
