The cold wind, who are eager to warm, those wandering outside the small animals are no exception. In the past two days, many “caring cat nests” have appeared on xianlin Campus of Nanjing Normal University, not only providing shelter for stray cats on campus, but also allowing them to enjoy a “warm winter” full of love.
On the roadside of the western canteen of Xianlin Campus of Nanjing Normal University, under a parasol, two stray cats, one yellow and one flower, were sitting in a simple cat nest made of foam board and plastic basket, with a lot of cat food in a small bowl beside them.
The reporter learned that these cat nests are placed by a public welfare organization called “plum blossom track” in the school. In addition to the roadside cat nests, more than 20 others are scattered in hidden corners of the school’s dormitories.
In addition to setting up a “love cat nest” for stray cats, the charity sale raises funds to sterilize stray cats on campus, and reduces and limits the size of the stray cats in a planned way, which is what the club has been doing.
Chen Li, deputy director of the “Plum Blossom Whereabouts” club at Nanjing Normal University, told the reporter that stray cats sometimes breed inbred, resulting in a high mortality rate and being noisy when they are in heat. For the sake of their quality of life and the safety of their classmates, they have sterilized the cats, and the number of stray cats has reached about 70 to 80.
The reporter visited many universities in Nanjing and found that stray cats are very common on campus, and schools generally do not drive or kill them deliberately. In addition to Nanjing Normal University, students from Nanjing University and Nanjing University of Physical Education have also made multiple cat nests to help stray cats stay warm through the winter.
College teachers believe that caring for stray animals is far from enough, and students should not throw away food waste, feed, raise or abandon pet cats at will.
