In Russia, a dog owner thought her beloved pet was dead, so she dug a hole to bury it. Unexpectedly, this pet dog came back from the dead and crawled out of the grave, and the lady owner was stunned when she heard the news!

The grave was not very deep, however, and shortly after being buried, Dick suddenly awoke and, realizing that he was in a “hole”, struggled to dig his way upwards through the earth. Some passers-by noticed a noise in the grave and dug it open to rescue him.

An exhausted Dick was taken to a local animal shelter. Employees at the shelter posted photos of him on social media looking very pitiful in hopes that some kind soul would give him a new home.

Dick’s owners were also informed, and the sisters were so surprised that they quickly rushed to the shelter to take Dick home, and were moved to tears on the spot. As a token of their appreciation, they donated 5,000 rubles (about $523) to the shelter.

Mudrova, the head of the shelter, said, “Dick’s owner couldn’t wake him up and thought he was dead. Fortunately, the grave was not dug very deep and Dick managed to crawl out after regaining consciousness.”

Netizens were equally surprised to read the news and compared the story to the plot in Stephen King’s horror novel ‘Forbidden to the Graveyard’. One netizen said, “I wonder, has Dick’s owner read ‘No Going to the Graveyard’? Do animals fear death too?” Forbidden in the Graveyard describes the very story of dead pets being brought back to life by some force.
