Summer is to bathe the dog more, the first time pet dog owners on the bathing of small dogs, there must be many questions. Today, I’ll take you through the methods and precautions of bathing a small dog.
1. Wash the dirtier parts first:
The dog’s four feet, buttocks and mouth are easier to dirty parts of the body, before giving it a full body bath, wash these parts with soap first. Note that to use soap rather than bath, because the soap’s ability to remove dirt is strong, and it is easy to rinse clean, and then give the dog a full body with bath time to wash these parts again, so that after washing the dog’s whole body will be very clean. Will not appear after the wash found the dog’s feet and buttocks and other places and other places are not a color.
2. Trim the hair around the butt:
When you wash your dog’s butt, give the area around the anus a good soaping as well, and check to see if there are any long hairs around the anus that tend to stick to poop. Most dogs are well behaved during bath time and it is easier to trim the hair around the butt when it is wet. So you can trim it at this time, but be careful not to cut into the flab around the anus.
3. Dry cleaning method:
For dogs that don’t really like baths, you can take a bottle and dilute the bath first, then as soon as your dog’s coat is dry, sprinkle the diluted bath on your dog and rub out the lather, kind of like when we go to the salon to dry shampoo our hair. This way the dog only rinses the water once when the foam is rinsed out, so there is less chance of it fighting you. However, this method does not work for larger dogs with thicker fur, because the bath you dilute will be absorbed by the dry, thicker fur, and you’ll have to use a lot of it to make foam, so it’s better to wet the fur for this type of dog.
4. Wash your dog’s mouth:
If it is a flat-mouthed dog such as Jing Bar, Pug and so on, it is best not to use water directly on its face, because these dogs have short nasal passages, and the dog does not know how to hold its breath, so it is very easy for water to enter the nose and make it very uncomfortable. You can scrub his face with a wet towel soaked in water. For dogs with long faces, it is not easy to wash their faces. Even the best behaved dogs are resistant to washing their faces. The key when washing their face is to hold it in place with your hands and not let it hide around. You can follow the picture in the attached, with one hand to grasp its mouth, to be a little harder to make it feel that you have more power than it, and then use the other hand to hold the nozzle rinse side of the face, so that the water from the dog’s eyes and nose in the middle of the flow down, so that will not be wet eyes and will not let the water into the nose. Then switch over and flush the other side.
5. Have some hand towels or small dry towels ready:
This is very necessary. As it is very easy to splash water into the dog’s eyes when bathing, and when washing the top of his head he will bury his head down and let the water run down his nose, I expect that his eyes will be closed when he buries his head down and endures the water rushing over the top of his head, while at other times his eyes will always be open. Wipe the water from the eyes and nose promptly with a hand towel and a small piece of dry towel, and the dog will be happy. Personally, I prefer to use a large ball of hand towel to wipe it, because it is very absorbent, and can be thrown away directly after use, rather than using a towel.
6. Change into clothes that are ready to be washed before bathing your dog:
Dogs love to shake off water when they are bathing, it’s the only way for them to shake the water off their bodies, but it’s really a way that saves us more than half a day of scrubbing. So don’t stop him from shaking the water, especially when he’s done, let him shake as much water as he can, and don’t worry about where he shakes it off. Sometimes, after I wash my dog, because I wipe the water on the eyes and nose clean, it does not shake the water, and I even rinse its face a little bit to encourage it to shake it well. Because it really shakes down a lot of water, it saves us a lot of effort in drying and blow drying it. So if you’re bathing him, make sure you’re wearing clothes that you’re going to throw in the washing machine soon, because a lot of the water he shakes off will be on you.
7. Stuff your dog’s ears with cotton balls 🙂
Water in the dog’s ears can easily cause ear inflammation, rub two cotton balls slightly larger than the ear’s eye before bathing, and stuff them into the dog’s ears so that any water that accidentally flows into them will be blocked by the cotton balls.
