Raising a puppy is not that simple and there are some issues that you must be aware of! First of all never treat a six to twelve month old puppy as an adult dog, treat it like your newborn baby, with patience, gentleness and care from time to time. How you treat your puppy now is very important to its future socialization.
The following points must be kept in mind with a first-time puppy:
1. Do not bring your new puppy home if you have recently gone on vacation; you will need to spend more time with him and you will want to integrate him into your daily life.
2. Watch and communicate with your puppy at all times and try not to leave him alone for long periods of time.
3. Be on the lookout for messages that it is going to defecate, breathing loudly and thrashing around, at which point you should immediately take it to where it should go.
4. Puppies have an uncontrolled bladder and may need to urinate immediately after drinking, eating, sleeping and playing, and at night they may need to go to the toilet at least every three hours, so try to take care of them every time.
5. Don’t punish him if he accidentally makes a mess, and never push his nose into the dirt to sniff it or scold him. It won’t understand and will probably poop anywhere when you are not there.
6. Praise your puppy immediately whenever he poops in the right place.
