Corgis first menstruate mainly around 6-8 months of age, indicating physical sexual maturity, also known as estrus. It is important to note that corgis who are in heat for the first time are not yet able to mate and breed. Because at this time, although the corgi dog is sexually mature, but the body development is not complete, the body condition is not able to bear the pressure brought by pregnancy.
The second time a corgi menses is usually at the age of 14 or 15 months. In other words, when corgis grow up to adulthood, they will be in estrus twice a year, mainly in the spring and autumn, that is, around 3-5, September to November.
Points to note when menstruating in Corgis:
1. It is best not to bathe the corgi during menstruation, especially when bleeding, and do not take the corgi outside to bathe. At that time, the corgi is easy to be infected with some physiological diseases, so how to go out to bathe is not clean at home.
2. Reduce or even don’t take corgis out during menstruation, as females in heat are extremely attractive to males, sometimes bringing stray males home, or allowing some males to fight over each other. So the best thing to do is to try not to take a female dog out in heat. Especially after two weeks.
3. If you wear pants for your corgi, be sure to change them at least 2-3 times a day.
