Many dog owners have a headache, that is, the baby dog always want to sleep in the owner’s bed. The body is small enough to play with sometimes insist on sleeping with the owner, the owner will tolerate it, but if it is a big Danish-like dog, also want to sleep with the owner, then in all likelihood, the owner will get a divorce. Why would a dog like to spend the night next to its owner?
The answer is that in many ways dogs remain puppies throughout their lives. Even adult dogs see their owners as pseudo-parents; so, naturally, they want to curl up next to their “mother”. In this case, the “mother” is not necessarily the mistress. If the dog is closer to the man of the house during the day, then the man becomes his surrogate mother and the person he wants to sleep with. If either the man or the woman owns the house, and one of them sleeps with a dog every night, it will certainly cause problems in the marriage, and even lead to the breakup of the family.
Even the domestic dog, which is highly trained and usually not allowed near the bed, still wants to sleep as close to his pack as possible” ~ “pack” in this case means the wild environment, when several puppies are left in the dog’s lair, of course, they will sleep close to each other. It is only when they are evicted from the pack that they will sleep away from the pack.
Similarly, a dog that is kicked out of its owner’s room every night will feel that it has been “evicted” from the pack. Of course, if it is a pack of watchdogs or a pack of hunting dogs, there will be no such problem, because it will keep each other company. But a dog that lives alone with its owner’s family will find it hard to understand why it has to be avoided at bedtime and “separated” from its companions.
In this regard, most families with dogs are advised to make a compromise: the dog should not sleep on the bed, of course, but it should be allowed to sleep as close as possible to the bedroom, or on the side of the bed. In this way, the dog may be spared the mental trauma of having to suffer too much every night.”
