The common reason for a rotten tail is that the density of breeding has led to a fight between the turtles, and the owner does not deal with the wound in time, which can lead to a tail fester. In addition, turtles living in water or dark and humid place for a long time lead to turtle body infection fungus, can also lead to a rotten tail, commonly known as hydromildew.

In view of the turtle tail rot, the corresponding treatment measures should be taken:

Isolation feeding, pay attention to the feeding environment

When this happens, the owner first needs to keep the sick turtle in isolation to prevent it from being bitten by other turtles or spreading the disease to other turtles. Secondly, need to let the tortoise bask in the sun, the general sun time to keep in 30 to 60 minutes or so, but do not let the tortoise bask in the summer is too hot, the skin damage to the tortoise is larger, the appropriate sun can enhance the resistance of the tortoise, prevent the bacteria to continue to prolifire, help the wound recover as soon as possible. If the turtle needs to be given a medicated bath, it should be soaked in a diluted potassium permanganate solution for disinfection, and then injected with water and medicine. The injected water needs to stand for 2 to 3 days in advance or be exposed to the sun for a day to remove the chlorine gas in the water, so as not to stimulate the wound of the tortoise.

Treatment with medication

First of all, the owner needs to use hydrogen peroxide or iodophor for anti-inflammatory treatment of the turtle tail ulceration, and then smear anti-inflammatory bactericidal ointment, at the same time in the feed can be appropriate to add a small amount of antibiotics, to prevent further secondary wound infection. Secondly, low concentration of salt water can be prepared for the sick turtles to slow down the rate of bacterial proliferation in the water.

Dietary respect

It is suggested that the master provide the tortoise with some food with high calcium content to help the tortoise recover quickly from the wound.
