Dog grooming tutorial and notes:
Tool Selection:
Tooth combing
Choose the right comb teeth that can penetrate deep into the hair. If you buy a very dull comb, the comb won’t be able to penetrate into the crevices of the hair very easily and combing will be ineffective.
hair clipper
The kind of hair clippers you buy will depend not only on your experience that you are able to use correctly, but also on your dog’s condition. If you are going to trim your dog’s hair in the regular way, you will have to buy slightly more expensive combs which will be good for grooming.
After each use of the hair clippers, a proper amount of lubricant should be applied to the blades so that they do not get stuck. Hair clippers should be placed in a warm and dry place so that the humid environment does not make the blades rusty and dull.
Anti Sticky Hair Remover
Used correctly, this tool is very effective and consists of a row of hooked teeth and a handle, with the front hooked teeth having accessible cutting ends. First, grasp the dog’s skin and the skin next to the sticky hair with your left hand to prevent pulling on the skin, then place the tip of the hook teeth on the sticky hair and pull it down firmly so it can be shredded. Large hairs should be removed several times, and a soft brush should be used to open and remove the hairs. It takes a lot of patience from both you and your dog to accomplish this.
Hair Trimming Process:
Generally, cut shorter in summer and slightly longer in winter. The ideal shape for various dogs is different. In the case of the poodle, for example, for a dog with a small head, leave the hair on the head longer and cut it in a rounded shape, and the hair on the neck should hang naturally, and the hair on the ear portion of the head should be left long, so that the shape is aesthetically pleasing.
As for dogs with large heads, you will have to find a way to cut the hair on their heads short, while the hair on their necks does not need to be cut short. For a dog with a long face, the beard on both sides of the nose should be rounded to emphasize the focus. For dogs with small eyes, cut off about two rows of hair on the upper part of the eyes to make them look enlarged.
Dogs with short necks can improve their shape by trimming the hair on the neck and cutting deeper in the center of the neck can make it look longer.
A dog with a long carapace will give the carapace the appearance of being shorter if the hair on the chest or the back of the hips is clipped cleanly and then the carapace is fluffed up a bit with a curler.
Dogs with low, short backs can look taller by clipping them short in front and back, like dogs with long carapaces, and by clipping the hair on the feet to a slightly finer stick.
Dogs with X or O shaped legs just need to leave the hair on their legs longer to make them look thick and straight.
Dogs with large hips should have the entire waist hair cut short, so that the body slightly tilted a back can hide the shortcomings. Chubby dogs, it is best to cut the whole body hair short, feet cut into stick shape, can make the body look thinner.
Instead of cutting the hair on the neck, it is best to cut the hair on the back short and try to leave the hair on the shoulders and loins long so that the body doesn’t look curved.
Caveats:
Stray hairs between the paws:
If the hair between the dog’s feet is too long, it is most likely to grow bacteria, so insist on giving it a trim is a must-do thing, once a month. But need to remember is must not use scissors to trim, that is very dangerous, accidentally is very likely to hurt the dog. Because the dog’s paw pads are very soft and easily broken, you’d better use electric clippers to help it trimmed. Don’t trim it too short, or the toenails will be exposed.
Ear hair:
The dog’s ears are also an easy place to harbor bacteria, and we must pay attention to plucking its ear hair. It is better to clean the ear hair after taking a bath, when the pores are fully open and the pain is weak, but usually it is avoided. Before plucking the ear hairs, remember to wipe the water clean, otherwise the water and grease will be smothered inside, which will create a natural breeding ground for bacteria, but if the dog’s ear secretion is not a lot, you do not have to pluck the dog’s ear hairs every time you take a bath, depending on the situation. Generally, the interval between ear plucking is 10 days to 1 month. After plucking, remember to wash your dog’s ears again with an ear cleaner or saline solution to get rid of the dirt and grease.
Hair near the anus:
2.5 centimeters of hair around the anus is hygienically appropriate. Keep in mind that it is near the anus, not the whole butt. It’s best to use an electric push when trimming, that way it’s less likely to scratch it.
