The common types of folded ear cats we see are the Scottish Fold and the Highland Fold. They all have a pair of curved and folded down ears, which makes even cat lovers feel very peculiar. The folded ears of the folded ear cat are mainly caused by genetics, and this original shortcoming is now its most special and attractive place.

Because of the occurrence of deformed cats in the past, breeding was banned in the UK for a period of time. After careful crossbreeding by breeders, healthy kittens were finally bred and won the Cat Fanciers’ Association of America (CFA) championship in 1978. Scottish Fold kittens are not born with their ears folded, and it is only when they are about three to four weeks old that their ears begin to fold down …… or they simply do not fold down! It’s not until the kittens are 11 to 12 weeks old that breeders can roughly determine theirbehavior(Pet grade, Breeding grade or Racing grade).

The Highland Fold is a mutation of the Fold, which has longer hair and is therefore categorized as a long-haired Fold. Its character and habits are not very different from those of ordinary Folds, and it is usually very sweet and candy-like in its innocence. Although, the Highland Fold is generally athletic, it loves to be in contact with its owner. They are eager to be involved in whatever their owner is doing and they want to be favored by their owner. They can playfully interact with their owner or stay quietly by their owner’s side without any interruptions.Scottish FoldFolds attracted a lot of interest because of their cute and charming appearance, but interestingly, at the time they were more common abroad than in their homeland, Scotland, U.K. Since the breed had not yet been recognized by the Cat Fanciers’ Stewardship Council, there was little interest from breeders in the U.K. The breed was admitted to the U.S. registry in 1973, and it was only in 1984 that it was registered for theBritannia catThe Association recognizes that it is a full 11 years later than the United States. SUSIE, which suddenly produced kittens with folded ears, is the earliest origin of the Scottish Fold. However, these folded ears are a rare mutation.
