As temperatures gradually rise, the chances of ornamental fish being infected with diseases are greatly increased. What are the biological factors that can infect fish with diseases?

I. Pathogens

The pathogens of ornamental fish are fungi, bacteria, viruses, and protozoa. These pathogens are the culprits that affect the health of ornamental fish. The higher the number of pathogens in the fish body, the more obvious the symptoms of fish disease will be, and in severe cases, it can directly lead to massive fish mortality. The size of the infectivity of fish disease pathogens is closely related to the number of pathogens settling in the host, reproducing and expelling from the host. Deteriorating water conditions and an environment conducive to the growth and reproduction of parasitic organisms are more infectious and have a significant pathogenic effect on ornamental fish. If the use of drugs to kill or ecological methods to inhibit the viability of pathogens to reduce or eliminate pathogens, such as regular disinfection with lime, or put nitrifying bacteria to increase dissolved oxygen, water quality and other ecological methods to deal with the water environment, is not conducive to the growth and reproduction of parasitic organisms, the pathogenic effect on ornamental fish is significantly reduced, the chance of fish disease is reduced. Therefore, cut off the pathway of pathogens into the aquaculture water, according to the characteristics of the infectivity and pathogenicity of the pathogens of ornamental fish, targeted ecological control, drug control and immune control, the pathogens will be controlled to the extent that they do not harm ornamental fish, to reduce the occurrence of ornamental fish diseases.

II. Algae

Some algae, such as oomycetes and water net algae, have a direct impact on ornamental fish. Water net algae often entangle young ornamental fish and cause death; while acidophilic oomycete algae can cause pinking disease in ornamental fish.

III. Enemies

Enemies of ornamental fish mainly include rats, snakes, birds, frogs, ferocious fish, aquatic insects, leeches, green moss, etc. These natural enemies, on the one hand, directly consume ornamental fish and cause losses, on the other hand, they have become the hosts or transmission channels of certain ornamental fish parasites. For example, gulls can spread diplopiasis to other ornamental fish.
